Pornography addiction is a growing problem in many households across the country. It shares many similar characteristics to both Internet and sex addiction, and can be just as difficult to break. However, some groups are trying to inspire individuals who suffer from the condition to seek substance abuse help.

More than 300 churches across the country will celebrate National Porn Sunday on February, 6 as part of an effort to raise awareness of the problem, according to NPR. Additionally, several former NFL players appear in a video that these churches will play discussing their struggles with pornography addiction.

"I would go home, and I would sit there, and the laptop and I would have a conversation," former NFL quarterback Josh McCown says in the video, according to the news source. "And I would battle with not even wanting to open it, not even wanting to check e-mails because I knew where it might lead me."

Researchers from Stanford University have suggested that using internet filters to block potentially sexual sites may be an effective relapse prevention strategy for those trying to overcome a porn addiction.
